Nutella Hot Chocolate
My dear Husband is a Nutella freak! I always have two jars on hand, so I always stay supplied; he likes it that much.
When I told him I would try and make Nutella Hot Chocolate, he asked how quickly it would be ready.
This drink is the first I have made with Nutella. I usually end up making some type of dessert with it. Now that we have made Nutella Hot chocolate, I am already thinking about what else we could make.

Recipe Variations
Substitutions: We used regular cowโs milk in this creamy nutella hot chocolate, but you can use any dairy-free milk alternative if you cannot consume lactose or have other dietary restrictions.
Vegetarian Option: This sweet beverage is vegetarian.
Vegan Option: Vegans must use plant-based substitutes for milk and Nutella, as the chocolate hazelnut spread contains milk.
Gluten-Free: This recipe is safe for a gluten-free diet, as Nutella confirms on its site that it is a gluten-free product.
Alcohol-Free Option: We donโt use alcohol when we make this hot chocolate, but you can add a shot or two of Frangelico, Kahlua, rum, bourbon, or Irish cream to make it boozy and extra rich. Frangelico is an Italian hazelnut liqueur.
Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: This Nutella Hot Chocolate recipe is for one and is easy to scale up to however many servings you like.
Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 38 grams of sugar per serving, with 21 grams per two tablespoons of Nutella. Look for a sugar-free Nutella substitute to make this recipe sugar-free.

Tips for the Best Nutella Hot Chocolate
- If you add a bit of cocoa to the top of the whipped cream, be careful when you first take a drink. I inhaled a massive glob of cocoa powder, which was not a pretty sight.

I have a few Nutella-crazed friends. Another simple but great dessert we used to make in our student days is a Nutella-banana cake. The fastest is with store-bought cake-bottoms, slap on Nutella, add slices banana, some more Nutella, a layer of cake, repeat until satisfied with height. Slap some Nutella on top, decorate with sprinkles or whipped cream. I personally like to moisten the cake layers with some cooking rum, or cooking rum mixed with some milk - adds aroma and flavors.
