During our time on the Carnival Vista, we had the opportunity to take a wine tour of Tuscany. This was one of those bucket list days that you can't honestly believe is happening.
Wine Tour of Tuscany Cruise Excursion
We spent the morning visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa and then in the afternoon jumped onto a Wine tour of Tuscany cruise excursion and it was amazing.
Even in the pouring rain, this is one of my favorite Mediterranean cruise excursions we have ever done. By the end of the tour, everyone on the bus was family and laughing, singing, and just having a great time.
The tour left directly from the boat and we headed for the land of Pinocchio ...Tuscany! Our first stop was a gorgeous village in Tuscany.
After a short drive on the bus, we arrived at the winery and due to the rain headed straight to the wine tasting. They said if the weather would have been nicer we would have had the opportunity to tour the vineyards.
Trust me no one complained that we went straight to the wine tasting portion of our tour and stayed there pretty much the rest of the afternoon. The tables were set up in a way that invited you to get to know your tour mates and share stories of your cruise and travels.
We tasted the most amazing olive oil and balsamic vinegar that was beyond delicious. The balsamic vinegar was so good that I had a hard time only bringing one bottle home with me. I wanted to ask if they could just ship me a vat of it. Hello yum!
One thing about this tour is you will have the opportunity to taste a wide variety of wines and appetizers.
From prosciutto to mozzarella and everything in between. Make sure and save room for the biscotti at the end. The biscotti was so good one of our table mates was actually hiding it in his pockets so he would have some for later.
We reminded him that we were on a cruise ship and there was plenty of food but he was adamant that he was bringing back all the biscotti he could get in his pocket.
You have the opportunity to purchase your favorite wines or snacks in the gift shop before heading back on the bus. They do offer shipping of the wine if you buy enough. I was actually amazed at how many people were buying 12 and 24 bottles of wine to be shipped back to the United States.
The ride back to the cruise ship was beyond hilarious. Everyone was well let's just say relaxed from wine tasting and in very mellow moods. One gentleman played the harmonica for us while another would hop up and tell us a rather silly joke or riddle.
Everyone was laughing and having a great old time the entire way back to the ship. This excursion is the perfect way to not only live the dream of tasting wine in Tuscany but also a great way to meet some amazing guests on your cruise!
This is one of our favorite things to do in Tuscany! We can't wait to return again and visit more wineries.
