Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Pepper Recipe
He told me that between this recipe and the Crescent Braided Cheese Steak Recipe he would be happy if I made them weekly.
This recipe is really easy to make and turned out fantastic! This is going to be my go-to recipe when we have friends over for dinner. It is so easy to make and looks amazing on the plate.
Ingredients
- Green Pepper
- Medium size onion
- Provolone Cheese
- Steak-umm Cheese Steak
Portions are going to depend on how many Philly Cheese Steak Stuffed Peppers you are making.
Equipment Needed
Frying Pan
Sharp Knife
Baking Sheets - We are huge fans of these baking sheets that have sides. You don't have to worry; you are going to remove the peppers from the oven and have the slide right off.
Heat resistant potholdersย - A couple of years ago we had a fire scare when we didn't realize we had turned a burner on and a cloth potholder caught fire. Thankfully we walked by the kitchen and saw the smoke and were able to get it out ourselves. Since then we have only used these heat-resistant potholders.
Directions
1. Cook Steak-umm's with onions in a Skillet
2. Clean out the inside of your green peppers removing all of the seeds.
3. Line the inside of the green pepper with provolone cheese
4. Stuff the Steak Umm and Onion mix into the green pepper until it reaches the top.
5. Cover with ample amounts of provolone cheese
6. Bake. I turn the oven to broil for the last minute or 2 closely watching the cheese to make sure it does not burn
7. Serve and enjoy!

How many peppers do you use for 1 box of steak-umm?
Muffie
I made this tonight for dinner for very picky eaters. It was a big hit!
After I cooked the steak-ums and onions together, I put them in a bowl and added some mayo and wet hots. I did sit them in a little bit of water as they baked.
Very easy, didn't take long, and delicious!
Tammilee
Hi,
I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
Muffie
Hi, I just made this, and I just put it in the oven.
Question: does the green pepper get cooked, or is it crunchy?
After I cooked the steak Ums, I put them in a bowl threw in a little mayo and some wet hots, like on a steak sub.
Not being familiar with cooking whole green peppers, I put them in a glass dish with some water in the bottom. Don't ask me why.
I will let you know what the crew thinks!
Jessie
hi there- thinking of making this tonight but with ground beef and adding seasonings to give it that extra yummy flavor the steak ums would offer. Any thoughts about whether or not this might work?
Thanks in advance!
Tammilee
I love the idea of using ground beef. I am going to have to try that. It sounds delicious.
vanessa
Hi Tammilee can you use regular steak ums, I can't find the cheesesteak kind.
Tammilee
I think regular steak ums would work great for the recipe.
vanessa
Oh ok ty , your recipe looks delicious, I have all the ingredients and I can't wait to fix it, but my bro brought over this delicious beef stew he made the other day and I have to finish that ( wow he gave a lot , enough for at least 4 meals) once that is finished Tamilee's philly cheese steak stuffed peppers here I come!!!

I added a 1/2 package of Lipton onion soup mix and a bit of water to the meat and simmered for a couple minutes before stuffing into the peppers.
I also steamed the peppers for a few minutes until tender crisp.

When I make stuffed peppers I always boil my peppers first for about 10 minutes. That makes the peppers more tender before cooking

My blog has a lot of completely unique content I've either authored myself or outsourced but it

I'd definitely appreciate it.

I made these for the first time tonight! They were delish!! Thank you for sharing. I did however have to bake about 25min because I like my peppers very tender. I waited for the last a couple of mins to top with cheese.
