Today, we are sharing Crock Pot Cheeseburger Soup. The slow cooker makes this recipe so easy to make.
Crock Pot Cheeseburger Soup
Wow! Shared halfway through Crockuary 2014, this recipe was our thirteenth of the 28 CrockPot Recipes we shared that month.
My CrockPot may ask for a vacation after this month.
I love making soup in the CrockPot, especially during the winter months.
It gets so cold and snowy during the winter that soup becomes the perfect filling meal.
I wish I were using the stove more now since it is so cold, and I could warm up the house a bit. That is the perfect reason to bake up a sweet treat. ๐
This soup takes some stovetop work, and then the CrockPot does the rest.
One of the things I like about this soup is it only takes a couple of hours in the CrockPot. You don't have to wait for it to cook.

Preparation and Storage
Make-Ahead + Storage: Our CrockPot Cheeseburger Soup recipe is make-ahead-friendly! Store cooked leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and enjoy them within three to four days.
Freezing/How to Freeze: Transfer any freezer-bound leftovers to an airtight, freezer-safe container or bag, and enjoy them within three months.
While dairy-based soups typically donโt freeze well since they separate when thawed, roux-based soups are safe for the freezer.
How to Reheat: Reheat your leftovers using the microwave, stovetop, or CrockPot, depending on how many you prepare. Thaw any frozen portions overnight in the fridge to ensure they reheat evenly.
Recipe Variations
Substitutions:
Feel free to change up the ground beef, cheddar cheese, and chicken broth to add a unique twist to your cheeseburger soup; cheeseburgers come in many different forms!
You can replace ground beef with ground chicken, ground pork, or ground turkey if you donโt eat red meat.
Shredded Monterey jack, Colby jack, sharp cheddar cheese, and Tex-Mex cheeses are fantastic substitutes for cheddar cheese.
You can also use vegetable or beef broth if you donโt have chicken broth.
Add bacon bits or pieces to make a bacon cheeseburger soup recipe.
Vegetarian Option: Vegetarians can swap ground beef with a meat-free alternative, such as Beyond Meat, and chicken broth switched with vegetable broth to make a veggie hamburger soup.ย
Vegan Option: In addition to the guidance for vegetarians, vegans will want to replace evaporated milk and cheddar cheese with plant-based alternatives.
Gluten-Free: Gluten-free diners should replace the all-purpose flour and tortilla chips with gluten-safe substitutes. While the remaining ingredients should be gluten-free, check each label if you are highly sensitive.
Alcohol-Free Option: We donโt use alcohol in our CrockPot Cheeseburger Soup, but our CrockPot Beer Cheese Soup has many similar ingredients if you want a rich, beer-infused soup.
Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: The written recipe makes six servings. Scale it up or down to your desired yield, keeping in mind that you may need to work in batches if you scale up.
Make it Spicy: Add chopped jalapeรฑos, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, or a spicy cheese to make this cheesy soup spicy!
Sugar-Free: This recipe contains 5 grams of sugar per serving, with no single ingredient containing a significant amount.
Tips for the Best CrockPot Cheeseburger Soup
- We like the consistency of this soup as-is. However, you can increase the flour for a thicker soup and the broth to thin it out.
- Whether you use pre-shredded cheese or grate it yourself, always use shredded cheese in your CrockPot Cheeseburger Soup so that it mixes in easily and is less likely to clump.
