Depending on the day, we will whip up our favorite hot cocoa recipe or some boxed mix in a few minutes. It all depends on how much time we want to spend.
Adding a shot of RumChata to hot chocolate makes it the perfect winter adult hot chocolate. The spiced rum cream flavor is unique and tastes fantastic when mixed with hot cocoa.
I was looking at cabins in the woods today, trying to decide if we should take a long weekend and just relax for a few days. The idea of getting away with some great books, fun movies, and no plans is lovely.
Planning a weekend getaway might make me enjoy watching the snow fall and not stressing about quickly cleaning the driveway and walkway.

Ingredients

Garnish - Marshmallows, whip cream, gingerbread cookies, cinnamon sugar, caramel sauce, toffee bits, milk chocolate chips, cinnamon sticks, white chocolate chips, and vanilla syrup.

Hot Chocolate - We used milk chocolate hot cocoa mix but you could easily use a flavored hot chocolate.

What is RumChata?
RumChata Horchata Con Ron is a blend of Caribbean Rum, Cream, and flavors of cinnamon and vanilla.
The dairy cream is sourced from Wisconsin. The spices are sourced around the world.
Does RumChata need to be refrigerated?
RumChata does not have to be refrigerated. RumChata can be stored at room temperature.

How to make RumChata Hot Chocolate
There are several ways to make RumChata and Hot Chocolate. We used a dry cocoa mix and milk for this recipe, which was quick and easy.
You can also make CrockPot Hot Chocolate or RumChata White Hot Chocolate with our CrockPot White Hot Chocolate and mix the RumChata into the hot cocoa as you serve it.
The other option is to make homemade hot chocolate on the stovetop with cocoa powder, sugar, water, and milk. You decide how long you want to spend making some hot chocolate.

Refrigerate leftover RumChata Hot Chocolate in an airtight container and enjoy within three days.

Substitutions:
This recipe used an easy hot chocolate mix, but you can easily make homemade hot chocolate. We used a milk chocolate hot cocoa mix, but you could easily use a flavored hot chocolate that would go well with RumChata.
Vegetarian + Vegan Option:
This RumChata Hot Chocolate is vegetarian but not vegan, as RumChata, milk, and boxed hot chocolate mix contain dairy. To make it vegan-friendly, replace all three ingredients with plant-based alternatives.
Gluten-Free:
RumChata is on Celiac.comโs list of gluten-free liqueurs, making this recipe safe for a gluten-free diet if you also use a hot chocolate mix with a gluten-free label.
Alcohol-Free Option:
Replace the RumChata with an NA alternative to make alcohol-free RumChata Hot Chocolate.
Larger Group/More Servings:
If you are serving a large group, you can easily make a large quantity of hot cocoa using your stovetop or CrockPot and have guests add the RumChata. Adjust the slider in the recipe card to your desired serving size.
Sugar-Free:
The sugar content in this recipe comes from the RumChata and hot chocolate mix. One 1.5-oz shot of RumChata contains about 10 grams of sugar.
RumChata does not have sugar-free alcoholic alternatives you can buy at a store, so you can make a sugar-free alternative using the many recipes online. If you are watching your sugar intake, skip this drink or lower the sugar content with a sugar-free hot chocolate mix.
