Krumkake Recipe
Today we are kicking off 25 days of holiday cookies and treats! Every day we will be posting one of our favorite holiday cookies and treats including guest posts from some of our favorite bloggers.
To kick off our holiday treat celebration I am sharing our families Krumkake Recipe.
I love KrumKake! When I think of Christmas treats this is the first treat that comes to mind. Growing up I counted down the days until my Mom would prepare Krumkake.
She normally only makes it right before Christmas or if we are lucky and a long-lost relative visits than we might get it twice in a year. Norwegian Krumkake baking day was the best day as a kid!
We got to help in the kitchen, try and sneak handfuls of Krumkake and listen to holiday music.
This holiday treat brings back so many memories and just makes me smile. I had the chance to make this Norwegian Christmas cookies krumkake recipe with my Mom and Dad when they came over a while ago. It was so much fun making them and talking about family holidays.
Not much has changed since I was a kid. As soon as the Krumkake was done and waiting to cool down my Dad walked through the kitchen grabbed a few and high tailed it out before my Mom could give him the look.
The thing about Krumkake is they fit perfectly on your hand. You can have 5 fingers full of yummy goodness!
We use a Krumkake iron to get the patterns on the Krumkake and to get the dough super thin. You can buy Krumkake Irons and Rollers on Amazon if you need a set. There is even a hilarious Krumkake Shirt that I may need to buy for my Dad!

It is exciting to see a Krumkake recipe on your page. I make them too, but mine are golden and brown when I bake them. Yours look white.

Hi, I think these were lighter because of the krumkake mold not being hot enough. Later in the batches, they tend to get more golden and brown. I am just always so excited to make Krumkake that I tend to not wait for the iron to heat up enough.

Is it possible to make these any other way....if you don't happen to have a krumkake maker?
Tammilee
I have heard of people making them similar to crepes in a frying pan. They just won't have the designs on them.

Krumkake cookies should a little brown not white. My family made them that way .
