Daily House Cleaning Checklist
Daily House Cleaning Checklist
Do you ever feel like you are running around and don't know which way is up?
That feeling of looking up and your house doesn't look quite as clean as you wished it did but you are not sure how you are going to find the time to shower let alone dust and make the bed. I was feeling like this a lot this summer and decided I needed a daily house cleaning checklist. A list that I could use to remind myself what had been done and what I had been ignoring for longer than I want to admit.
I will fully admit that not all of these things get done on a daily basis but I am able to rotate through them to know that I am not leaving something off the list for weeks on end. Having a list is helping me make sure that the house doesn't look like a bomb exploded within it.
Daily House Cleaning Checklist
Bedrooms
__ Straighten the bed and fluff pillows
__ Put any jewelry or clothes back where they belong
__ Place any dirty laundry in hampers
__ Pick up any toys off the floor in children’s rooms
__ Straighten night tables
Living Room
__ Straighten couch- place pillows back in place, fold any throws or blankets
__ Pick up any plates, food wrappers, or cups and place in garbage or dishwasher
__ Straighten rugs and runners
__ Wipe tables to clean off any water rings or crumbs
__ Lightly Vacuum (Do a heavy/full vacuum 1 time per week for every member of your household. For instance, if you have 3 people living in your home, you should vacuum 3 times per week)
Kitchen
__ Do all dishes before going to bed
__ Wipe off surfaces such as countertops, refrigerator handles, stovetop, and microwave (exterior)
__ Hang your dish towels and tidy up your kitchen sink area.
__ Scrub out your sink. Pay attention to facets and handles.
__ Sweep and spot clean any spills or areas on your floor.
Bathroom
__ Do a quick swish in the bowl of your toilet. No elbow grease or cleaning supplies needed except for maybe some vinegar.
__ Put things back in holders such as toothbrushes, soaps, and cosmetics.
__ Spot clean your mirror.
__ If you have a cat, sweep up any spilled litter.
__ Hang towels on racks
Entryway
__ Place shoes, coats, winter gear or hats on racks
__ Spot mop the area
__ Wipe down door handles
If you do these things daily, you will be surprised at how clean your home stays! It may seem like a lot to do, but each task can be completed in less than 2 minutes each and they can be done throughout the day as you have time in each room.
Another way to control the clutter is to spend 10 minutes every evening just placing things back where they belong. This means taking toys back to children’s rooms, sorting through paperwork, or even matching socks if need be!
