There is nothing quite like New Orleans! From the food to the things to do you can easily spend a weekend or longer exploring New Orleans. Today we are sharing our New Orleans Travel Tips!
We love visiting New Orleans and can't wait to return for another trip soon. You just can't go wrong enjoying a Cafe Du Monde Beignet and sipping on chicory coffee while people watching. There is just something special about New Orleans. The city welcomes you with open arms and leaves you stuffed with great food, relaxed from amazing music and soaking up the southern hospitality.
New Orleans Travel Tips
If you are flying into New Orleans there are set rates for the cabs to town. They were very reasonable and have set rates to and from the airport. We paid $33 for a taxi for 2 people downtown. When we priced an Uber it was $75.
Things to do
Take a ride on the Steamboat Natchez for a view of the city from the river.
Visit the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and Butterfly Garden.
Located right on the Mississippi River and an easy walk from the French Quarter the aquarium and butterfly garden are the perfect place to cool off in the A/C.
Take a streetcar ride
Be prepared for the streetcars to be busy depending on the time of day you want to travel. These are a very popular way to see the city especially since they only cost $1.25 for a 1 way fare.
Visit one of these amazing New Orleans Plantations along the Great River Road.
Wander Jackson Square and check out the artists and the St. Louis Cathedral. The cathedral is the oldest continually operating cathedral in the United States.
Visit Cafe du Monde for beignets! Be prepared for the powdered sugar to get everywhere. If you have a purse zip it closed or you may find sugar on everything in your purse.
Walk through St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 the oldest surviving cemetery in New Orleans.
