Woohoo! I'm so excited for the weekend by the time Friday rolls around. We enjoyed an โadventureโ when we first shared this recipe.

How to make Broccoli Slaw
I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.
Step 1 - Add all slaw ingredients to a large bowl and toss to combine.
Step 2 - In a separate bowl, add all the dressing ingredients and whisk/stir until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning. If you like a sweeter dressing, add more honey.
Step 3 - Pour the dressing over the slaw and mix until evenly coated.
This is best when chilled for a few hours, tossing every hour or so.
Garnish with reserved green onions and blue cheese, if desired.
Preparation and Storage
Make-Ahead + Storage: Broccoli Slaw is a make-ahead-friendly salad! Refrigerate it in an airtight container, and enjoy any leftovers within three days. If you prepare it beforehand, you can dress the salad before refrigerating it or leave the dressing and add-ins on the side for guests to dress their salads.
Freezing/How to Freeze: You may be surprised to know that the vegetables in broccoli slaw keep in your freezer for up to six months. Store them in an airtight, freezer-safe container without the dressing or other condiments, then thaw the leftovers in the fridge and prepare the dressing the day you serve the salad.
Recipe Variations
Substitutions: You can use equal parts light mayonnaise and Greek yogurt to lighten up the dressing.
For added crunch you can add in sunflower seeds, more carrots, or your favorite mix-ins.
Vegetarian Option: This yummy summer salad is vegetarian-friendly!
Vegan Option: Make this Broccoli Slaw vegan-friendly by replacing the blue cheese, honey, and light mayonnaise with plant-based alternatives. Dairy-free Vegan mayo is fantastic and tastes great. I use it for grilled cheese sandwiches all the time.ย ย
Gluten-Free: This salad should be gluten-free, but you should check the label on your Dijon mustard if you are highly sensitive, as some brands may contain gluten-unsafe additives.
Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: The written recipe yields four servings using 12 ounces, or three cups, of broccoli slaw. Scale it up or down to your desired yield.
Make it Spicy: Mix chili powder, red pepper flakes, or cayenne powder into the salad dressing to spice it up. You can also add a few drops of hot sauce if you donโt mind the dressing taking on some of the hot sauce flavors.
Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 13 grams of sugar per serving. Replace the honey with a sugar-free sweetener, to make it sugar-free.
Tips for the Best Broccoli Slaw
- We use a bag of pre-shredded store bought broccoli slaw mix to make this recipe easy-peasy. However, you can shred broccoli stalks using a food processor or box grater if this product isnโt available in nearby stores.

I love broccoli slaw and this looks delicious. I think I would even add some cauliflower in there too. Would make a nice dish in the summer.

I feel foolish but what is broccoli slaw? I see it on your ingredients list and I gather it isn't broccoli? This looks delicious, regardless!
