Slow Cooker Sweet Potatoes and Apples
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I have been cooking a ton of recipes for John's grandmother. She is in her early 90s and finding that some foods just don't agree with her anymore. She has a hard time with meat and a few other things. This Crock Pot Apple Sweet Potato Recipe is her absolute favorite recipe.
Each time I make this for her she tells me it is her absolute favorite and I can make it again soon. What I love about this recipe is how dang easy it is.
This year I am going to bring it to John's families Thanksgiving. It is the perfect combination of sweetness and a bit of tartness from the apples. Plus the cinnamon is just delish!

Recipe Tips
The last time I made this we didn't have any dark corn syrup in the house so I switched to maple syrup. It worked great in a pinch.
Try to keep the slices of apples and sweet potatoes about ยผ inch cuts. This way they get cooked and soft but don't fall apart and squish when you go to serve them.
I have seen people mash together the sweet potatoes and apples. We normally serve the slow cooker sweet potatoes and apples in a casserole dish with a large spoon. I like the look of the layer of color between the slow cookers and apples.
You can use whatever apples you love! I tend to use whatever we have in the house. A variety of apples can be used to change up the flavor.
Nutmeg can be added to the recipe if you love that flavor.
