Kool Aid Pie Recipe
This is the perfect fun dessert you can make in a few minutes. The hardest part of this no bake dessert recipe is waiting for it to set in the refrigerator.
I am a huge fan of no bake desserts.ย When we first built our house our air conditioning system went out in the middle of the summer. It was 90+ degrees in Spokane and our brand new house had no air conditioning. There was no way I was going to turn on the stove or do anything that might heat up the house.
Enter in all the delicious no-bake desserts I could think to make. I know it is bad to stress bake or eat but when your brand new house is falling apart there are days you need a no bake pie in your life.
Thankfully the warranty company sent someone out to fix the air conditioner pretty quicky. Can you believe they forgot to put freon into the system so there was no chemical to help the system run.
Now we have air conditioning thankfully but I am still madly in love with this Cherry No Bake Kool Aid Pie.
Ingredients
This is a quick overview of the simple ingredients that you'll need to make an easy Kool Aid Pie! Specific measurements and step by step instructions are included in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Kool-Aid Packet - Feel free to use any flavor of Kool Aid Packet. You can make this with any flavor Kool-Aid you enjoy. We made cherry since we still had some in the house from making Kool-Aid Pickles.
Cool Whip - We use original Cool Whip but light should also work. Regular whipped cream does not work for this recipe as it is not stabilized enough to hold the pie shape.
Sweetened Condensed Milk -ย One can of basic Sweetened Condensed Milk is all that is needed. It makes this pie so creamy and adds sweetness. Cream of Coconut works as a great substitute.
Graham Cracker Pie Crust - A homemade graham cracker crust or store bought crust works great. Change it up and try an Oreo Crust or Nilla Wafer Crust for a different flavor. If you are using a homemade pie crust make sure it has cooled down before adding the Kool Aid Pie filling.
Toppings - Whipped Cream, cherries, sprinkles, strawberries, oranges, or any fun toppings
Equipment Needed
Large Mixing Bowl - We are big fans of this glass batter bowl that has a handle. It makes it easy to mix ingredients and keeps the mixing bowl steady on the counter. Make sure you use a large enough bowl to have space for all the ingredients
Whisk/Spatula - You can use a whisk or spatula to mix all of the ingredients together.
Pie Server - a pie server makes it easier to serve this fun Cherry Kool-Aid Pie.
Preparation and Storage
Make Ahead โ This can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
Storage โ Store in the refrigerator covered for 5-7 days.
Freezing/How to freeze โ This No Bake Kool Aid Pie can easily be frozen. Wrap it in plastic freezer wrap, aluminum foil, or in a freezer bag. It can be stored for up to 3 months. Just thaw in the fridge when you are ready to serve it.
Recipe Variations
Substitutions - Change up the flavor of Kool Aid packet used and try orange, lemon, blue raspberry, pink lemonade, black cherry. fruit punch, watermelon, green apple, grape, strawberry kiwi, mixed berry, strawberry lemonade, sharkleberry, peach mango, and more for different flavored Kool Aid Pies.
If you are not a fan of sweetened condensed milk this can be made with cream cheese. The no bake Kool Aid Pie texture will be a bit different.
Additions - Sprinkles, fresh fruit
Vegetarian Option - This recipe is vegetarian
Vegan Option โ Switch to dairy free sweetened condensed milk, vegan whipped topping and make a vegan graham cracker crust. Not all graham cracker brands are vegan.
Gluten Free - Use gluten free graham crackers when making the crust.
Smaller Serving Size โ This no bake Kool Aid Pie can be made in mini graham cracker crusts for smaller servings.
Larger Group/More servings โ This recipe can be doubled but I would make each pie on its own. That way you can easily distribute the filling.
Recipe Tips
You can use either a canned whipped topping or homemade whip cream.
If you want to get adventurous with flavors Amazon has a pack of 22 different Kool-Aid Drink Mix Flavors.
You can easily make this no-bake Kool Aid Pie the day before you need to serve it. Just leave off any toppings until right before you serve it. I would make sure there are no onions or other strong flavors in the fridge just in case. LOL! You don't want the pie to take on any extra flavoring.
If you want to add even more flavor your can fold in fruit pieces into your kool-aid pie mixture. A great option would be strawberries mixed into a Strawberry kool-aid pie, or blueberries, or cherries, or really any fruit you love.
If you are not a fan of graham cracker crusts you can get adventurous and use an Oreo Crust.
