This easy Leprechaun Beer Recipe is perfect for St. Patrick's Day Parties! This two-ingredient cocktail shot includes Green Crรจme de Menthe and Baileys Irish Cream, which are layered together to create a great green drink.
Leprechaun Beer
This year, I decided to get really creative and make all the St. Patrick's Day party food and drinks I could think of. I have been having so much fun whipping up green cocktails and making corned beef, fried cabbage, and leprechaun bait.
St. Patrick's Day always reminds me how much I love visiting Ireland and want to return for another visit. There is something magical about the landscape and people of Ireland. The warmth and mystery that surrounds the country.
This Leprechaun Beer is probably not available at a pub in Dublin, but that doesn't mean you can't serve it with a twinkle in your eye for St. Patrick's Day.
Let's be honest and admit that St. Patrick's Day has taken on a whole new meaning from what it historically started as.
So today, I will raise my mini beer shot glass with you and say...
To all the days here and after
May they be filled with fond memories, happiness, and laughter.
This toast is one of my favorite Irish Toasts that I hope brings you a smile.
Ingredients Needed
Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make an epic Leprechaun Beer Shot! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.
- Green Crรจme de Menthe
- Baileys Irish Creamย
Equipment Needed
- Mini Beer Shot Glasses
- Bartending Spoon
- Cocktail Jigger: We use these angled jiggers to make it easy to pour into shot glasses.
How to make Leprechaun Beer
I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.
Add green crรจme de menthe to the shot glass. Try to pour in the middle of the shot glass so the green does not get onto the side of the glass.
Slowly pour Baileys over the back of a bartending spoon to create the foam at the top of the Leprechaun Beer.
Preparation and Storage
Make Ahead: We do not suggest preparing this cocktail shot beforehand, as you will lose the frothy beer โheadโ that adds to the presentation.

Recipe Variations
Substitutions:ย
We made this recipe with DeKuyper Green Crรจme de Menthe and Baileys Irish Cream, but you can use any green Crรจme de Menthe and Irish cream you enjoy the taste of.
We even have a homemade Irish cream if you want to go the DIY route for this ingredient.
Vegetarian Option: The Leprechaun Beer Shot is 100 percent vegetarian!
Vegetarian + Vegan Options:
Green crรจme de menthe is vegan, but Baileys contains dairy. If you are vegan or make this shooter for vegan friends, Baileys has Baileys Almande, a dairy-free alternative made with vegan-friendly vanilla and almonds.
Gluten-Free:
Clear and green crรจme de menthe are on Celiac.comโs list of gluten-free liqueurs.
Gluten-free drinkers should use a gluten-free alternative to Baileys, as Baileys does not guarantee that its products are gluten-free.
Alcohol-Free Option:
Replace the green crรจme de menthe and Baileys Irish Cream with NA alternatives to make non-alcoholic Leprechaun Beer Shots.
Larger Group/More Servings:
For more servings, multiply the recipe by the number of shots you need and divide the mixture between each shot glass. Be prepared to work in batches if youโre serving a large group.
Sugar-Free:
The written recipe contains 15 grams of sugar per serving. We have not seen alcoholic sugar-free green crรจme de menthe or Irish cream alternatives at stores, so sugar-free drinkers must skip this sweet shot or make their liqueurs using the many sugar-free recipes online.
