Easy Oatmeal Cookie Shot Recipe that tastes amazing and is a great dessert cocktail shot.
Oatmeal Cookie Shot Recipe
I love making fun cocktail shots that taste great and look fantastic, and the excuse to make Oatmeal Cookies was perfect on a cold July day.
This summer has not been hot so far in Spokane, so I have spent time in the kitchen making as many fun recipes as possible.
You don't have to be a trained bartender to make an epic cocktail! I went to bartending school years ago because I wanted to learn to make a delicious drink for guests and friends when they came over.
I learned that mixing cocktails is a delicious art you can play with until you figure out what flavors you love.
We love sharing easy recipes that taste amazing and are fun to make. This summer, I have been working on creating many cocktail recipes that I can't wait to share soon!
There are no raisins in this cocktail shot, so we can't call it an oatmeal raisin cookie cocktail. LOL!
You could add raisins to a cocktail pic for the garnish to make it an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Shot. Hmmm.
Ingredients
Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make an epic Oatmeal Cookie Shot! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.
- Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur
- Butterscotch Schnapps
- Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey/Cinnamon Schnapps
- Kahlรบa Coffee Liqueurย
If you do not have Fireball Whisky you can easily use Cinnamon Schnapps for the cinnamon flavor or Goldschlager.
Garnish - For a fun garnish you can serve this drink with an oatmeal cookie or add a caramel sauce rim edge of shot glass.
Equipment Needed
- 2 oz Shot Glass
- Cocktail Shaker โ This cocktail shaker comes with a fantastic set of tools
- OXO angled jiggers - these are our go-to measuring tools for cocktails. They work perfectly for pouring in layers for cocktails.
How to make an Oatmeal Cookie Shot
I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.
Step 1 - Combine all the ingredients into your cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Step 2 - Shake and strain into a 2 ounce shot glass. We try to pour as close to the rim as possible.
Step 3 - Enjoy!
Preparation and Storage
Make Ahead + Storage: Since, unlike layered cocktails, the presentation doesnโt matter as much, you can make this Oatmeal Cookie Shot the day before. Refrigerate it in an airtight container for freshness until itโs time to serve. Garnish just before serving.
Freezing/How to Freeze: We have yet to try it this way, but you can blend the shot ingredients with a handful of ice for an Oatmeal Cookie Slushie Drink. Increase the proportions of ingredients as needed to fill your desired drinking glass.

Recipe Variations
Substitutions: If you do not have Fireball Whisky, you can easily use cinnamon schnapps or Goldschlager for the cinnamon flavor.
Vegetarian Option: This Oatmeal Cookie Shot is vegetarian.
Vegan Option:
Vegans should make a few swaps to make this cocktail recipe vegan. Replace the Baileys, Kahlรบa, and Fireball with plant-based substitutes, as these mixers may not be safe for a vegan diet.
Butterscotch schnapps are typically vegan, as manufacturers tend to use the extract form instead of real butter, but check the product label on your bottle to confirm.
Baileys Almande is the brandโs almond milk-based, dairy-free alternative. You can also make a homemade Irish cream with your favorite plant-based milk.
Gluten-Free:
Baileys states in its FAQs that it cannot confirm whether its products are gluten-free, so gluten-free drinkers should look for a gluten-free Irish cream to avoid cross-contamination.
Manufacturing practices may vary significantly across butterscotch schnapps brands, so look for a gluten-free label.
Beyond Celiac confirms that pure, distilled whiskey, including Fireball, is generally gluten-free since the distillation process filters out wheat, barley, or rye. Kahlรบa confirms the same for its products.
Alcohol-Free Option: Replace each ingredient with an NA alternative to make alcohol-free Oatmeal Cookie Shots.
Smaller Serving Size: Halve this cookie-inspired shot to make two one-ounce shots if you prefer smaller shots.
Larger Group/More Servings: Scale the proportions of ingredients up for a full-sized cocktail version. You can also scale all the ingredients up and add them to a pitcher the day before for a pitcher-style Oatmeal Cookie Drink. Make sure the pitcher is airtight and refrigerate until serving.
Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 23 grams of sugar per serving. Each ingredient contains sugar, and we have not seen sugar-free alternatives from the manufacturers, so look for sugar-free or low-sugar substitutes to lower the sugar content.
Tips for the Best Oatmeal Cookie Shot
- You can serve this drink with an oatmeal cookie for a fun garnish. We have also seen versions that crumble the cookie for a fun rim garnish. You may want to prepare a cinnamon sugar mixture or have caramel or chocolate sauce on hand so the cookie crumbles stick to the shot glass.
- If you like ice-cold shots, chill your shot glasses briefly in the freezer before serving. This tip is great if you make this shot pitcher-style so everyone gets a cold shot glass.
- If you want to experiment with this shot, you can adjust the proportions of each ingredient until you find a flavor combination you love.
- This cocktail shooter would be fantastic poured over a bowl of ice cream.
- If you do not have cocktail shot glasses, you can pour this oatmeal cookie drink into a small glass or a rocks glass.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon to the top of your drink for extra flavor.
- Scroll down to see calories, carbohydrates, protein, sodium, calcium, and other daily nutrient numbers at the bottom of the recipe card.
- Weโve seen a few recipes using Grand Marnier orange liqueur, but we didn't feel like orange went with an Oatmeal Cookie drink.
- Please make sure everyone enjoying this drink is of legal drinking age.
