This easy Peanut Butter and Jelly Shot features Skrewball Whiskey! This easy layered shot takes seconds to prepare and tastes fantastic. Great for parties!
Peanut Butter and Jelly Shot Recipe
When I went to the liquor store to pick up a new Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey bottle, the cashier asked what I was making. When I told him I wanted to make a PB&J Shot, he laughed and said they were becoming popular.
I was amazed at how many varieties of peanut butter whiskey the store had. There was peanut butter-flavored whiskey at the register, end caps, and a massive section in the whiskey area. I had no idea peanut butter whiskey became the "it" liquor this year.
The cashier told me they had been selling a ton of peanut butter whiskey. I will work on making a few of the peanut butter whiskey cocktails he shared with me soon. They sound amazing!ย
The flavor of peanut butter and grape jelly was a favorite during my childhood. It is fun being able to make an adult version.
We make this as a layered shot, but you can add the Skrewball Whiskey and Chambord to a cocktail shaker and shake them together before pouring them into the shot glass. We love the layered look since it reminds us of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
I am going to work on more peanut butter whiskey shots. I make try making jello shots with it and see what happens.
Ingredients
Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make an epic Peanut Butter and Jelly Shot! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.
- Chambord Liqueur
- Peanut Butter Whiskey
Optional Garnish - Fresh Raspberries on a toothpick.
Chambord Liqueur is a black raspberry liqueur that is perfect for this cocktail.
If you are not a fan of black raspberry you can easily change this recipe and use strawberry liqueur or another fruit liqueur.
Frangelico - If you do not have Peanut Butter Whiskey you can change it out for Frangelico hazelnut liqueur.
Equipment Needed
- Shot Glass - You will want to use a 2 oz shot glass for this recipe or adapt the recipe to fit a different size.
- Bartending Spoon or Regular Spoon
How to layer a shot?
The key to getting a layered shot to work is to pour the liquor slowly over the back of a spoon. This helps slowly distribute the liquor evenly and not mix it with the other ingredients.
I use these measuring glasses that have a pour spout to make it easy to control how fast I pour the liquor.
There are no big tricks to getting the layers correctly. my biggest advice is to pour slowly.
I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.
Step 1 - Carefully pour Chambord into the shot glass. Try to keep as much of it off the sides of the glass as possible to get the best layering effect.
Step 2 - Slowly pour the Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey over the back of a spoon.
If you happen to mix the ingredients together don't worry the drink still tastes the same. The layered look is a bonus.
Step 3 - ENJOY!!!!
Preparation and Storage
Make Ahead + Storage: If you don't mind losing the layers, pre-make this PB&J shot the day before serving and refrigerate it in an airtight container until itโs time to drink. Otherwise, make it just before serving so you get the layered effect.
Freezing/How to Freeze: Add the cocktail ingredients to a blender filled with ice and a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent Frozen PB&J Cocktail similar to our LuLuโs Famous Bushwacker or Spirit of Kentucky Bourbon Milkshake. Blend with half and half or milk to reach the desired consistency.

Recipe Variations
Substitutions:
Chambord Liqueur is a black raspberry liqueur that is perfect for this cocktail. It gives the cocktail shot a raspberry jam flavor. If you are not a fan of black raspberry, you can easily change this recipe and use strawberry liqueur or another fruit liqueur.
If you do not have Skrewball, use another peanut butter whiskey or Frangelico hazelnut liqueur.
For a grape jelly flavor you can use Grape Pucker Sweet & Sour Schnapps.
99 Blackberries schnapps can be used for a blackberry jam flavor.
Strawberry liqueur could be used for a strawberry jelly flavor.
The layers within the cocktail are going to depend on the density of the mixture that is used.
Vegetarian Option: This cocktail recipe is vegetarian.
Vegan Option: Chambord contains honey, making it a non-vegan product that vegans should replace to make this shot plant-based. Weโve seen multiple sources stating that Skrewball is vegan.
Gluten-Free: This shot should be safe for a gluten-free diet. Chambord is gluten-free, and we have also seen multiple sources confirming that Skrewball is gluten-free.
Alcohol-Free Option: Replace both ingredients with NA alternatives to make this recipe alcohol-free.
Smaller Serving Size: Halve this PB&J-flavored shot to make two one-ounce shots if you prefer smaller shots.
Larger Group/More Servings:ย
You can make this into a Peanut Butter and Jelly Martini by doubling the recipe and pouring it into a martini glass. Garnish with a couple of blackberries on a cocktail pick.
Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 7 grams of sugar per serving, with most coming from Chambord. We have seen mixed reports on whether Skrewball contains sugar.
