This RumChata Cocktail makes me think about curling up before the fire with a comfy blanket over my legs, relaxing the night away. This time of year is so hectic that taking a few minutes to enjoy a delicious drink and relax is nice.
It has been snowing here in Spokane, making me think of every reason to curl up in front of the fireplace. The cats will not complain if I slow down and relax for a while.

What Is RumChata?
RumChata is a blend of Caribbean rum, cream, and flavors of cinnamon and vanilla.
RumChata sources its dairy cream from Wisconsin and spices from around the world.
Does RumChat Need to Be Refrigerated?
RumChata does not have to be refrigerated. RumChata can remain at room temperature.

We do not use a cocktail shaker for this drink but you can if you want it extra frothy.
How to Make a RumChata Eggnog Cocktail
I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.
In a rocks glass, add a handful of cubes of ice. Top with RumChata and Eggnog. Stir to mix.
Garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground nutmeg.
If you are not a fan of whipped cream, you can skip it and make a cinnamon sugar rim of each glass instead.ย

Freezing/How to Freeze:
We do not suggest freezing leftovers of this sweet holiday cocktail. Dairy products tend to turn grainy after freezing and thawing.
How to Reheat:
We like enjoying this cocktail cold over ice, but you can heat it using your microwave or stovetop if you prefer a hot version.

Substitutions:
We use premade store-bought eggnog, but you can easily use homemade eggnog for this recipe.
Vegetarian + Vegan Option:
This RumChata Eggnog is vegetarian but not vegan, as RumChata and eggnog contain dairy. To make it vegan-friendly, replace both ingredients with plant-based alternatives.
Gluten-Free:
RumChata is on Celiac.comโs list of gluten-free liqueurs, making this recipe safe for a gluten-free diet.
Eggnog is a dairy-based product that is naturally gluten-free, but if you are highly sensitive and want to avoid cross-contamination, look for a gluten-free label.
Alcohol-Free Option:
Replace the RumChata with an NA alternative to make alcohol-free RumChata Eggnog.
Larger Group/More Servings:

If serving pitcher-style, I would use only a few ice cubes in the pitcher to avoid them melting and watering down the drink.
Sugar-Free:
The sugar content in this recipe comes from the RumChata and eggnog. One 1.5-oz shot of RumChata contains about 10 grams of sugar, and eggnog includes 9 to 21 grams of sugar per serving.
RumChata does not have sugar-free alcoholic alternatives you can buy at a store, so you can make a sugar-free alternative using the many recipes online. If you are watching your sugar intake, skip this drink or lower the sugar content with a sugar-free eggnog.
