Easy Snickers Shot Recipe is the perfect three-ingredient dessert shot made with Kahlรบa, Frangelico, and Baileys Irish Cream.
Snickers Shot Recipe
We love making fun layered shots, especially when they taste fantastic. This dessert shot replicates the famous candy bar, the Snickers Bar!
You don't have to be a trained bartender to create epic layered shots. It may take some practice, but it is worth it to wow your friends with a fabulous party shot.
The most important thing is to pour slowly over the back of a spoon. You don't want the liquor to mix into the layer below it. You want each layer to show evenly.
If your layers are not distinct initially, don't worry; the cocktail will still taste the same.
Ingredients
Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make an epic Snickers Shot! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.
Optional Garnish: Rim the edge of the shot glass with caramel sauce and add crushed nuts.
Equipment Needed
- 2-Ounce Shot Glasses: We love these 2-ounce shot glasses, especially for layered shots.
- Bar Spoon: Bar spoons help to create layers in the cocktail shot. They fit perfectly into the cocktail shot glass.
- OXO Angled Jiggers: These jiggers are our go-to measuring tools for cocktails. They work perfectly for pouring in cocktail layers.ย
How to make a Snickers Shotย
I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version. Use a steady hand when pouring each shot layer.
Pour Kahlรบa into the middle of the glass, trying not to hit the sides of the shot glass.
Slowly pour Frangelico over the back of a bartending spoon to create the second layer.
Rotate the shot glass and wipe the bartending spoon clean. Slowly pour the Baileys over the back of the spoon to create the third layer.
Preparation and Storage
Make Ahead + Storage:ย
If you are not worried about creating layers in your Snickers Shot, you can use a cocktail shaker with ice cubes to mix all the ingredients and pour them into a shot glass when itโs time to drink.
You can prepare this sweet shot up to a day or two beforehand. Check out our guidance below on making it for a larger group.
Freezing/How to Freeze:
We donโt recommend freezing this candy-inspired cocktail shot. Without a high-proof base spirit, it may freeze solid in your freezer.
However, if you want to enjoy it as a boozy milkshake-like drink, double the recipe and blend it with a handful of ice.

Recipe Variations
Substitutions:ย
We used Kahlรบa, Frangelico, and Baileys in this recipe, but you can use any coffee liqueur, hazelnut liqueur, and Irish cream available at stores near you that you enjoy. We even have a homemade Irish cream if you want to go the DIY route for this ingredient.
Vegetarian + Vegan Options:
The Snickers Shot is vegetarian but not vegan, as Kahlรบa and Baileys contain dairy, and Frangelico is the only vegan ingredient. If you are vegan or are making it for vegan friends, replace Kahlรบa and Baileys with plant-based substitutes.
Baileys has Baileys Almande, a dairy-free alternative made with vegan-friendly vanilla and almonds.
Gluten-Free:
Kahlรบa confirms in its FAQs that while it is not certified gluten-free, it does not use gluten-containing ingredients in making Kahlรบa Original or its other flavors.
Gluten-free drinkers should use a gluten-free alternative to Baileys, as Baileys does not guarantee that its products are gluten-free.
Frangelico is on Celiac.comโs list of gluten-free liqueurs.
Alcohol-Free Option: The Snickers Shot contains three liqueurs, so youโll need to replace each with an NA alternative to make it non-alcoholic.
Larger Group/More Servings:
Double the recipe and serve it in an old-fashioned glass for a full-sized Snickers cocktail.
You can make a large batch of this recipe for parties. Multiply the ingredients by the number of shots you need, pour the mixture into an airtight container, and refrigerate until serving. When itโs time to drink, shake the container to combine any settled ingredients and divide it among multiple shot glasses.
Sugar-Free:
The written recipe contains 14 grams of sugar per serving. We have not seen alcoholic sugar-free alternatives of Kahlรบa, hazelnut liqueur, or Irish cream at stores, so sugar-free drinkers must skip this sweet shot or make their liqueurs using the many sugar-free recipes online.
Tips for the Best Snickers Shot
- The recipe contains equal portions of Kahlรบa, Baileys, and Frangelico to capture the taste of a Snickers bar. Feel free to serve it with a mini Snickers bar for the complete Snickers experience.
- The Snickers part and Frangelico hazelnut liqueur should give it away, but we do not recommend this shot for anyone with a nut allergy.
