Chris Stapleton and Harlen Wheatley Launch Traveller Whiskey Full Proof
Buffalo Trace Distillery Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley and Grammy-winning musician Chris Stapleton have unveiled Traveller Whiskey Full Proof, a bold evolution of the original Blend No. 40 and the brand's first line extension since its January 2024 debut. Bottled at 121 proof, the new release delivers amplified intensity while preserving the balanced, easy-sipping versatility that defines Traveller's signature style.
Curious how far Traveller's signature 90 proof could be pushed without sacrificing its smooth, approachable character, Stapleton and Wheatley began exploring different blend adjustments and techniques. The breakthrough came during a backstage tasting, where Stapleton and his band unanimously agreed the selected higher-proof expression captured something special.
"Prior to collaborating with Harlen Wheatley and Buffalo Trace Distillery on Traveller Whiskey, I generally leaned toward higher-proof and barrel-strength bottles," Stapleton shares. "Needless to say, when we decided to experiment with a higher-proof expression, I was excited to see where that could land. One night after a show, we had two potential Full Proof contenders backstage with the band and some friends. Everyone agreed 121 was the clear winner. It's the same easy-to-drink DNA, just turned up a few notches."
"Across our products, we like to experiment with proof as a way to bring out different flavor characteristics already present in the whiskey," says Harlen Wheatley. "When we started experimenting with proof in Traveller's blended recipe, flavors and finishes came to the forefront that aren't as apparent in the 90 proof blend. It's remarkable how different the blended recipe responds to proof variation compared to our straight bourbons."
Traveller Full Proof delivers a rich, higher-impact expression with amplified notes of caramelized sugar, baking spice, and toasted oak. Building on the smooth foundation of Blend No. 40, this 121-proof release opens up layers of vanilla, warm toffee, and dark fruit. The result is a whiskey with depth and complexity that challenges expectations of what blended whiskey can achieve.
Blended and bottled at Buffalo Trace Distillery, Traveller has quickly risen to be one of the fastest-growing whiskey brands in the world, winning numerous top awards and expanding rapidly to global markets. In 2025, it became the "Official Whiskey of Major League Baseball" and made waves in NASCAR when JR Motorsports's Traveller Whiskey No. 40 Chevrolet, driven by Justin Allgaier, secured a dramatic top 10 finish in the 2025 DAYTONA 500.
Initially launched as a limited release in February 2026, Traveller Full Proof is now available to retailers, bars, and restaurants nationwide via Sazerac's distributor network at a suggested retail price of $39.99 (750ml).

Hard Truth Distilling Co. Releases Three 7-Year Whiskeys
Hard Truth Distilling Co. is releasing three limited, seven-year expressions from its core whiskey portfolio: Sweet Mash Rye, Bourbon, and Wheated Bourbon.
These are the first seven-year whiskeys from Hard Truth, marking a significant maturation milestone for the distillery. Crafted entirely at Hard Truth's Indiana campus, they showcase the depth and character that comes with extended aging.
The release debuts exclusively at Hard Truth Distilling Co. in Nashville, Indiana beginning Saturday, February 28, with a limited allocation rolling out to select retailers in the weeks following.
"If you've been following our story here at Hard Truth, you will understand how important a seven year age statement is for an authentic grain-to-glass whiskey maker," said Bryan Smith, master distiller and partner of Hard Truth Distilling Co. "Our sweet mash process creates a delicious whiskey at younger ages, but after seven winters and summers, these whiskeys have been transformed into something truly special."
Drawn from carefully selected barrels, each expression pays tribute to Hard Truth's distinct, Indiana-grown character, delivering heightened complexity, balance, and layered flavor. The distillery's sweet mash distilling process starts every batch with fresh ingredients, resulting in uniquely complex whiskeys that bring forward subtle grain notes often muted by the more common sour mash method.
7-Year Hard Truth Straight Bourbon Color: Tawny Aroma: Sweet notes of buttered toffee, vanilla, and cherry with delicate mocha and rye spice Palate: Sweet, dark cherries lightly drizzled with honey, followed by toffee and vanilla custard Finish: Warming, with candied pecan, bold rye spice, oak, and clove
7-Year Hard Truth Sweet Mash Rye Color: Auburn Aroma: Maple, golden raisin, and plum blend seamlessly with vanilla and fennel Palate: Candied fruit and rye spice fade to maple, cracked black pepper, and oak Finish: Warm and inviting with brûléed sugar and cherry syrup that open up to vanilla, fennel, and oak
7-Year Hard Truth Wheated Bourbon Color: Burnt amber Aroma: Decadent with notes of nougat, dark chocolate, toasted almond, and vanilla Palate: Warm pecan pie with a hint of milk chocolate fade to sweet cream and clove Finish: Long and soothing with candied fruit and cracked black pepper

Poderi Luigi Einaudi Releases Barolo DOCG Ravera 2022
Poderi Luigi Einaudi is adding a prestigious new Cru to its Barolo portfolio: Barolo DOCG Ravera 2022, an exceptionally elegant expression from the municipality of Novello in the heart of the Langhe.
Produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes from a single vineyard approximately 400 meters above sea level with south and southeast exposure, the 2022 Barolo DOCG Ravera is grown on marl-clay and limestone soils (Marne di Sant'Agata). This terroir gives the wine a distinctive balance of structure, finesse, and longevity. The Ravera MGA (Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva) has long been recognized as one of the most distinguished sites for producing Barolos of great depth and tension.
Crafted in very limited production of just a few thousand bottles, the wine displays brilliant garnet red. The aromatic profile is broad and exuberant, revealing notes of ripe red fruits, blood orange, chalky minerality, balsamic nuances of mint, and delicate hints of dried flowers and spices. On the palate, it is elegant, deep, and structured, supported by crisp acidity that ensures momentum and longevity, and by subtle, noble tannins that are seamlessly integrated.
With the 2022 Barolo DOCG Ravera, Poderi Luigi Einaudi expands its collection of Crus, reaffirming a production philosophy focused on highlighting the finest qualities of the territory and crafting wines that express the identity of the Langhe with authenticity and precision.
Tattersall Offers THC-Infused Tonic and 7 Year Rye Whiskey
Tattersall is offering two distinct celebration options: a THC-infused non-alcoholic tonic and a traditional rye whiskey.
Tattersall Functional's Uplift is a THC-infused, non-alcoholic tonic designed for social ease without the hangover. The premium blend combines THC, CBD, CBG, and adaptogens like lion's mane and rhodiola rosea to deliver calm energy and uplifting euphoria, making it ideal for parties, parades, and festive gatherings.
With notes of bright citrus, lemon zest, and jasmine, Uplift works on its own, with soda or tonic, or in a craft mocktail. It's crafted to stoke sociability and good vibes, helping you feel connected and present.
Tattersall Distilling's 7 Year Rye Whiskey offers bold character and exceptional smoothness for those who prefer a traditional toast. Bottled in Bond at 100 proof and made from single-farm-sourced rye, this whiskey features robust notes of caramel and vanilla complemented by peppery spice and light cherry.
It shines in a Manhattan, Sazerac, or Boulevardier, and is equally enjoyable neat.

Bulleit Unveils Bourbon Made with Mesquite Wood-Smoked Malt
Bulleit Frontier Whiskey is launching Bulleit Bourbon Mesquite Smoked Malt Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a limited-time release made with an experimental mashbill. This marks the first time a Bulleit Bourbon has removed rye from the recipe, exploring new territory in bourbon-making.
The difference starts during the malting process. A portion of the malted barley is smoked over mesquite wood, imparting its signature smoky aroma. The mesquite wood-smoked grains are then used in the mashbill before fermentation and distillation begin. No artificial flavors, nothing else added. The rest follows Bulleit's proven Kentucky Straight Bourbon distillation process.
Bulleit Bourbon Mesquite Smoked Malt opens with rich notes of caramelized sugar and warm mesquite smoke. The palate delivers layers of sweet vanilla and oak, balanced by subtle smokiness that nods to classic BBQ pit flavors. The finish is light yet lingering, leaving a gentle, barbecue-inspired warmth.
The mashbill features 65% corn, 30% mesquite smoked malt, and 5% malted barley. Bottled at 93 proof (46.5% ABV), the higher proof point allows the smoky and malty notes to shine. The whiskey works neat, over ice, mixed in a cocktail, or alongside BBQ.
"It's important to note that while this release is a first-of-its-kind spirit for the brand, it is not a flavored whiskey," said Phil Gelineau, Whiskey R&D Manager at Bulleit. "The subtle smokiness comes from the mesquite wood-smoked malt used in the mashbill. As it has aged, those notes have rounded into something richer and more complex, with layers of brown sugar, caramel, and real depth of body."
While some Bulleit whiskeys have previously explored mashbills without rye, including the brand's American Single Malt expression, this release represents a rare variation to Bulleit Bourbon's traditional high-rye style.
"Bulleit Bourbon Mesquite Smoked Malt is a clear example of how we keep pushing the frontiers of bourbon while staying grounded in craftsmanship," said Brian Blackiston, Brand Manager at Diageo for Bulleit. "We set out to make a high-quality whiskey that can be enjoyed in casual environments, especially alongside well-prepared BBQ. It's built for people who appreciate new ways to experience flavor, real technique, and whiskey that shows up with purpose."
The whiskey was first distilled in November 2018 and aged for a minimum of six years at Bulleit Distilling Co. before being pulled from the barrel in 2025. It was bottled in Fall 2025 and represents Bulleit's first experimental new-make project.
Bulleit Bourbon Mesquite Smoked Malt is a one-time release available beginning March 2, 2026, with a suggested retail price of $49.99 (750mL) and limited distribution nationwide.

El Mayor Tequila Reposado is a bright, golden tequila rested in American white oak barrels for a minimum of nine months, delivering hints of fruit flavors with vanilla and spice. The expression was awarded a gold medal at the 2025 ASCOT awards, a platinum medal at the 2025 SIP awards, and was recognized as one of the top 10 tequilas in the world at the 2025 International Wines and Spirits Competition (IWSC).

Penderyn Distillery Celebrates 25 Years with Landmark Aged Whisky Releases
Penderyn Distillery is marking St. David's Day and its 25th anniversary with a bold new era for Welsh whisky: the launch of its first official Aged Statement whiskies and Icons of Wales No. 14 - The Village.
The distillery opens exclusive online pre-orders in February 2026 for Penderyn Barrel No. 1, a limited bottling of 420 bottles drawn from an original cask matured in a sherry butt and priced at £1200 per bottle. The range marks Penderyn's formal entrance into fully matured age statements, which will follow in stages at 12, 21, and 25 years. The 25-year-old will be available for pre-order in February, with the others following in May.
This milestone builds on momentum created by Icons of Wales No. 13: Bad Wolf, which introduced Penderyn's first 10-year-old whisky in 2025. That release, aged in Port barrels, is now close to sold out, demonstrating global demand for older Welsh single malts.
"When Penderyn started 25 years ago, our ambition was clear: to bring back Welsh whisky and give it a voice on the world stage," said Stephen Davies, CEO of Penderyn Distillery. "We now have the depth of stock and maturity to do that with confidence. Our new Aged Statements are not about nostalgia, they're about progression, patience, and pride."
Icons of Wales No. 14 - The Village launches in early March 2026 and celebrates Portmeirion's centenary. The architectural wonder designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in 1926 is now one of Wales's most recognizable cultural landmarks. The whisky takes creative inspiration from the architecture, natural environment, and The Prisoner, the cult 1960s television series filmed in Portmeirion. The release is a rich, complex single malt finished in an Amarone cask, continuing Penderyn's award-winning Icons of Wales tradition. Previous bottlings have paid tribute to Dylan Thomas, Owain Glyndŵr, and Bryn Terfel.
Penderyn will host dual events for The Village and its Aged Statements: one at Portmeirion Village in North Wales, and another at The Whisky Shop, Piccadilly as part of Wales Week London.
Penderyn now operates three distilleries across Wales in Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park (Penderyn), Llandudno, and Swansea Copperworks, with a combined capacity of 900,000 liters of alcohol per year. The distillery exports to more than 50 countries and has earned more than 150 international awards to date, including multiple Gold Medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, The Spirits Business, IWSC, and World Whiskies Awards.
Established in 2000 and officially first tasted by King Charles (then HRH The Prince of Wales) in 2004, Penderyn revived a tradition dormant for over a century. The distillery's bespoke Faraday still system produces an exceptionally smooth and light spirit, setting Welsh single malt apart from Scottish and Irish counterparts.

Oban Releases Aged 15 Years Port Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch
Oban is releasing the second expression in its exclusive 15-Year-Old cask-finished series: Oban Aged 15 Years Port Cask Finish. The limited-edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky combines the coastal character of Scotland's Western Highlands with red fruit notes derived from Portuguese port casks.
Following the success of Oban 15 Cask Strength Sherry Cask Finish, this new release continues the brand's exploration of how fortified wine casks complement and elevate Oban's signature maritime profile.
Oban 15 Port Cask Finish was inspired by the shared coastal heritage of its namesake town and Porto, Portugal. The expression matured in American Oak Hogsheads before finishing in carefully selected, 100% American Oak Port casks.
On the nose, it opens with fruity dry white wine, hints of raspberries and vanilla ice cream, alongside Oban's signature maritime notes of sea breeze and warm sand. The palate reveals a soft, creamy-smooth texture with honeyed sweetness and juicy red fruit, developing into gentle salinity and peppery spice. The finish is short to medium and dry with lingering white pepper.
"Finishing this Oban in Port casks helps bring together delicious bright red fruit notes with lusciously sweet and spicy flavours," said Dr. Stuart Morrison, Diageo Master Blender. "The casks complement the maritime notes of Oban's distillery character, giving us a wonderfully mellow and well-balanced Single Malt."
"By bringing together Oban's coastal roots and the deep, sweet influence of American Oak Ruby Port casks, we've created a whisky that remains true to our character while offering something layered, expressive, and deeply rewarding to savor," said Jesse Damashek, Senior Vice President of Whiskey at Diageo.
This limited-edition bottle is available for a limited time at select spirits retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of $130 for 750mL.

Highclere Castle Gin Introduces Premium Flavored Peach Rose Gin
Highclere Castle Gin is expanding its portfolio with Peach Rose, the brand's first fruity-floral expression debuting in the U.S. in March 2026. The launch reflects growing consumer demand for premium spirits with authentic provenance and distinctive flavor profiles.
Inspired by the summer gardens of Highclere Castle, Peach Rose is crafted using botanicals sourced directly from the estate, including oil from the Lady Carnarvon Rose, estate-produced honey, and Italian white peaches grown on the property. The result bridges traditional London Dry structure with contemporary fruit-forward appeal.
"My vision with the Peach Rose was to capture the aromas and flavors of Highclere's garden parties in peak summer," said Adam von Gootkin, founder and chairman of Highclere Castle Spirits. "For the recipe design I was inspired by the sweet wine Sauternes, France's liquid gold. To replicate elements of the world's finest wine as a gin has never been attempted until now, and I'm pleased to say this beautiful spirit is shining on the rocks and in cocktails."
"This new expression blends the rich heritage of our estate with contemporary flavors that resonate with today's discerning gin enthusiasts," added Laurent Schun, CEO of Highclere Castle Spirits. "More than just a new product, it is a sensory journey through the lush gardens and storied history of Highclere."
Peach Rose joins Highclere Castle Gin's flagship London Dry expression, which has earned more than 200 international awards and is currently distributed across 33 U.S. states and 9 countries worldwide. The flagship's success has positioned the brand as a distinctive heritage-driven player in the premium gin category.

Lagavulin Introduces 11 Year Old Sweet Peat Single Malt Scotch
Lagavulin is releasing its first new permanent expression in nine years: Lagavulin 11 Year Old Sweet Peat Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The Islay distillery has aged this expression in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks for 11 years, balancing peat smoke with sweetness drawn entirely from oak and malt.
Sweet Peat reveals notes of toffee apple, vanilla, and gentle spice while maintaining Lagavulin's distinctive character. The expression earned a Gold Medal at the 2025 San Francisco Wine & Spirits Competition.
"Sweet Peat reflects careful cask selection and deliberate pacing," said Dr. Stuart Morrison, Diageo Master Blender. "On the palate, it opens with a gentle sweetness and salinity before bonfire smoke and oak spice come into focus. Notes of honeyed malt and toffee apple build through the mid-palate, finishing long with lingering peat smoke, dark chocolate, and soft vanilla."
The whisky is crafted using Lagavulin's traditional approach: heavily peated malt and local Islay water undergo careful fermentation in wooden washbacks, followed by distillation through the distillery's four distinctive squat, pear-shaped copper pot stills. This measured process produces a full-bodied, structured spirit, allowing peat to remain central through maturation while layers of sweetness emerge.
"Pronounced smoke is a defining element of Islay Scotch, albeit one that can feel polarizing to some drinkers," said Jesse Damashek, Senior Vice President of Whiskey at Diageo. "Sweet Peat presents peat in a way that tastes more approachable, while still delivering the depth and complexity long associated with Lagavulin."
The expression works well neat or on the rocks, and its versatility extends to classic and contemporary cocktails, including the Smoky Sweet Old Fashioned and the Sweet Peat Tea.

Sotol Romo Launches During Super Bowl Week in San Francisco
Sotol Romo, an ultra-premium Mexican spirit made from 100% Dasylirion (sotol), is making its global debut during Super Bowl Week in San Francisco. The brand positions sotol as the third pillar of Mexican spirits alongside tequila and mezcal.
Produced in Chihuahua, Mexico, Sotol Romo is made from 100% Dasylirion cedrosanum, a wild desert plant native to the Sierra Madre that takes 15 to 20 years to mature. The slow growth allows the plant to develop sugars naturally, requiring minimal manipulation after distillation and no additives. The result is an organic, sustainable, artisanal, kosher, additive-free spirit crafted with just plant and water.
"Sotol Romo is a treasure of the Sierra Madre," said Claudia Romo Edelman, Founder and CEO. "It comes from a plant that survives where little else does and grows slowly under the harshest conditions. Like great wine or diamonds, the more challenging nature is, the more exceptional the result."
Richard Betts, one of the most respected figures in modern Mexican spirits, perfected the liquid profile. "Compared to mezcal, sotol is lighter, more elegant, and less smoky or forceful. It allows more space for subtle flavors and balance. Compared to tequila, it feels more aromatic and refined, with a clearer expression of the land," said Betts.
The brand officially unveils on Friday, February 6, with the first public presentation of the bottle, liquid tasting, and the launch of SotolRomo.com. The site features a comprehensive sotol educational library.

Double Mountain Brewery Releases First-Ever Canned Lineup
After a decade of focusing exclusively on refillable glass bottles, Hood River's Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery is finally canning its beer and cider. Hop Lion IPA, Dry Cider, and a new Czech-style Pilsner will be available in 12-ounce six-packs starting January 30 (the Pilsner follows in March).
The move isn't abandoning Double Mountain's sustainability values. Refillable glass remains at the core of the brewery's identity, and that program continues unchanged. But the team recognized that customers wanted cans for outdoor adventures, concerts, picnics, and other places where glass isn't practical.
"For a long time, refillable glass has been the best expression of who we are as a brewery, and that hasn't changed," says Matt Swihart, Owner and Brewmaster. "At the same time, we've heard our customers loud and clear. Offering Hop Lion, Dry Cider, and Pilsner in cans allows people to take Double Mountain with them into more places."
All Double Mountain cans feature directly printed artwork, avoiding plastic shrink sleeves that interfere with recycling systems. It's a cleaner, more sustainable approach that keeps aluminum in the recycling stream. Empty cans and refillable glass bottles can be returned to any Oregon BottleDrop location or Double Mountain pubs.
Hop Lion IPA (6.7% ABV, 65 BU): The flagship IPA brings tropic resin, tangerine, evergreen, and Northwest petrichor to the nose, with tangelo and fresh bread following through. Finishes with orange and dank pine.
Dry Cider (6.6% ABV): Made with apples from Double Mountain's own orchard, this cider features Newtowns and old world cider apples pressed and fermented on a house yeast strain. Aromas of juicy pear, lychee, green fruit, and chamomile. Tart, crisp, dry finish.
Czech-Style Pilsner (4.7% ABV, 37 BU): A brand new brew and low-ABV option for the lineup. Clean, crisp, classic Czech-style lager built for balance and drinkability. No frills, just time-tested brewing.
Cans will be sold at local grocery stores and all Double Mountain locations.

State Line Distillery Launches Lapsang Smoked Gin
Smoked gin is carving out space as craft spirits' latest subcategory, and State Line Distillery is jumping in with both feet. The distillery releases its Lapsang Smoked Gin on February 1, incorporating Lapsang Souchong tea (a Chinese black tea traditionally smoked over pinewood fires) into a botanical spirit that bridges the gap between gin and whiskey.
The expression targets dual audiences: gin drinkers looking for more robust flavors and whiskey enthusiasts curious about botanical spirits. The smoked character delivers familiar complexity for whiskey fans while maintaining gin's cocktail versatility. Think martinis with added depth or Old Fashioned-style preparations with a lighter, more aromatic twist.
"We're seeing consumers who appreciate the depth of whiskey but want the versatility of gin," said a State Line Distillery representative. "Smoked gin bridges that gap by offering familiar smoky complexity through a completely different spirit category."
The release reflects a broader shift in American spirits, where consumers increasingly seek cross-category flavor experiences. While American gin has historically leaned into citrus and juniper brightness, contemporary craft distillers are exploring savory, earthy, and umami-forward profiles. State Line's Lapsang Smoked Gin is among the expressions leading this charge, establishing smoked botanicals as a core focus even before the distillery's single malt whiskey program launches.
Bartenders can use the expression in classic gin cocktails for added complexity or substitute it in whiskey-style drinks for a botanical alternative.
